Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald is a natural born leader. Using his financial and medical knowledge and experiences, he has become a successful entrepreneur-leader in the biomedical industry. Dr. Rosenwald predicts that investing in the biomedical field-pharmaceuticals will be a wise action as enumerable medical breakthroughs and medical inventions are occurring at an accelerated rate. With the public becoming more demanding for remedies not only for common diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, the demand is also growing for more treatments for such problems as epilepsy, rare diseases, and genetic-related problems.
Believing strongly about the importance of medical advancement, Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald is involved in philanthropy. He participates on the Advisory Counsel of Columbia-Presbyterian Health Sciences. Dr. Rosenwald established the Rosenwald Foundation that has given millions of dollars to deserving scientists and institutions in the biomedical-pharmaceutical field.
Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald is educated in both finance and medicine. After graduating in Finance from Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Rosenwald obtained his medical degree in 1983 from Temple University School of Medicine, completing his internship at Abington Hospital. He then entered private practice; then in 1986, Dr. Rosenwald accepted the opportunity to be a Physician-Analyst, a relative new position at Wall Street.
In the past 18 years, it has become clear to him that the biomedical-pharmaceutical industry major area of future will experience incredible growth. With his experience as a hedge fund manager and venture capitalist, he has been instrumental in positioning biotech, biomedical, and pharmaceutical companies for tremendous growth.
Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald has been actively involved in the founding and re-capitalization of dozens of public and private biotechnology and biomedical companies. For the last 10 years, he has been quite successful and is Founder and Chairman of his own company. Dr. Rosenwald’s company is designed to support the needs of biomedical-pharmaceutical firms.
Several of Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald’s portfolio companies have been extremely successful; many have dozens of compounds in various stages of development. Recently in 2009, Cougar Biotechnology that developed a prostrate cancer drug was sold to Johnson and Johnson for a billion dollars. Amazingly, the drug had only completed stage 2 of its clinical trials and had just begun stage 3. Another successful company is PolaRx BioPharmaceuticals, Inc. that developed the drug—Arsenic Trioxide—for an extremely lethal form of leukemia. This drug was ready for marketing and got through the FDA in an astonishingly short period of time—30 months—a record!
Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald is director of several of his own companies but others. He is director of Interneuron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which is now Indevus Pharmaceuticals, focusing on specialty pharmaceuticals. Keryx Pharmaceuticals is involved in developing, acquiring, and marketing pharmaceuticals for diseases such as cancer and renal disease.
Dr. Rosenwald’s priority is not only in growing companies but growing people.
In his own companies he employs attorneys, accountants, and other professionals with PhDs, MBAs, and MDs, especially if they have experience in finance and/or biosciences.
Furthermore, many professionals have had their careers advanced on Wall Street due to Dr. Lindsey Rosenwald’s assistance.
